KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — The Kalispell school board has voted to install synthetic turf at Legends Stadium.
The Daily Inter Lake reports the $958,000 cost was included in a $28.8 million high school district bond that voters passed last year.
Supporters say the synthetic turf would mean a more even playing surface, less maintenance and the ability to hold more events on the field each year. Some opponents preferred natural grass and one parent raised concerns about the potential health effects due to exposure to chemicals in the turf and infill.
