Patsy ‘Pat’ Joan Smith-Miles
Patsy “Pat” Joan Smith-Miles, 79, of Livingston passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at her home, with the love of her companion, Dennis Bruha, by her side. Cremation has taken place at the Franzen-Davis Crematory. Per Pat’s wishes, a formal funeral will not be held.
Pat was born March 25, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gerald B. and Merle (Bird) Smith. She grew up in Salt Lake City and came to work as an accountant in Yellowstone National Park in 1965. She moved in 1981 to Livingston, where she worked at the First National Park Bank. Here she met her life partner, Dennis Bruha in 1983.
Pat enjoyed being outdoors, hiking and skiing. Her love of horses was cultivated by her companion, Dennis Bruha, and together they lived their lives caring for their “1,000-pound babies.” She loved spending time with her family and her large collection of house plants.
Pat is survived by her life companion of 33 years, Dennis Bruha, of Livingston, and his children, Chris and Mark Bruha. She will be greatly missed as “Grandma Pat” by her grandchildren Zach and Cole Bruha, and her great-grandson Liam. She is survived by her brother Dennis Smith of Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah; her nieces and nephews; and many other extended family and friends.
Words of comfort left by Pat:
“It’s okay to grieve — and wonder why,
It’s okay to need to be alone,
To feel your loss in your own way.
It’s okay to be confused, to doubt, to wonder
If you’ll ever feel the same again,
And it’s okay to take all the time you need
Until you’re over this sadness,
Until bright memories come to take away your tears.”
