Cathleen Eve ‘Kay’ Peters

Cathleen, born Nov. 1, 1921, went gently to sleep and moved from this life to the next April 2, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, “Pete” on Nov. 24, 2011. She was born in Marcola, Oregon, and shared a childhood with her brother Vern and sister Oneita. Cathleen loved all types of crafts and dabbled in a variety of things. She refinished furniture finds, did copper work pictures, painted as well as being a seamstress, knitting and crocheting.

Cathleen, Pete and daughter Sharon moved from Fresno, California to Chico, where their daughter Vicki was born. Shortly after that, they moved to Butte where she was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. They semi-retired in Livingstonin the mid-70’s and helped manage her great-aunt’s ranch. They fully retired in 2001 and moved to Spokane. She and Pete enjoyed travel in their fifth-wheel and the many friends they met through Pete’s ham radio organization. These friends remained near and dear to her.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Johnson (Ken) with her children, Craig Johnson (Robin), John Johnson (Christiana), and Rylan Johnson; daughter Vicki Zimmerman (Jack Bornstein) with her children, Nolan Zimmerman (Lara) and Talia Munn (Aaron); as well as six great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren with their families.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8 at the Zimmerman/Bornstein residence in Deer Park. Friends and family are invited. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Veteran’s Association, Honor Flight or the Alzheimer’s Association, for her aunt who suffered from Alzheimer’s.
