Loaves and Fishes has been a safe haven for hungry people in Livingston for the last 17 years and is now saying goodbye to its director and co-founder, Martie Rice Claar.
Loaves and Fishes is a faith-based soup kitchen that serves many of the county’s hungry and disadvantaged people on a regular basis. Claar recently stepped down as director, as the organization welcomes its new head, Rosa Smith.
Claar, 86, said she started the organization with Jean Essex because she saw that there was a real need in the area.
“Jesus wants us to feed people,” she said.
